How Facebook Profiles Reflect Actual Personality

Many individuals today utilize different social media applications including Twitter and Facebook. These social media applications help people keep in touch with others with the click of a button through instant messages and electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets and computers. Many businesses today use Facebook and Twitter to reach out to the public and expose their business. What you can find through Facebook is more than just profiles and advertisements. You can see the many personalities of people who all take part in social media.

Facebook profiles are open to modification by the user. You can add photos to showcase your interests, your family or even yourself. You can enter in all sorts of information to list what types of books, television shows and movies you like. All of these aspects help depict the personality of the user themselves. The more information that is entered, the more accurate of a picture is presented to those who are able to view the profile. Often how the person looks to others becomes more of a driving force for individuals who are trying to get a certain persona across to others.

Individuals may try to stage themselves with special photos of celebrations, vacations or happy times only. While these are great to share with others on social media, it may come across to some as either trying too hard to glorify your life or trying to impress others with your happy times. Often there is a trend in many of the user’s photos. You can see many family photos or pet photos or even vacation photos that they continually share. This is what is important to the user and they want to share it with the world, or they share it because this is what they think others want to see.

Sharing posts and memes can also depict an individual’s personality without even knowing it. Often you can see a trend in shared posts such as religious musings, comedy pictures or even inspirational sayings. All of these can give you a glimpse into the mind of the user. There will typically be a repeated pattern of posts on an individual’s Facebook wall that helps give the public an idea of who they are and what they find interesting. You can tell a lot from a person by looking through their wall posts. Do they have a good sense of humor? Are they religious? Or do they prefer to look at positive quotes and sayings online?

While some people spend a great deal of time on Facebook making sure they have the very best profile up there, others are hardly on social media at all. This can also let you know that they have other priorities than spending time on applications such as Facebook and Twitter. If you notice that the posts on their walls are outdated or they haven’t shared anything in quite some time, it’s most likely they do not go online a great deal to social networks. Having a profile online can tell the public much more than you think with just a few simple clicks of a mouse.
